We are proud to announce our membership of 1% for the Planet and our commitment to donate 1% of annual sales to support non-profit organizations focused on the environment.

In 2020, we will be working with 1% for the Planet partner Protect Our Winters UK to help them succeed in their mission to "accelerate our transition to a carbon neutral society." We will do this through charitable donations, sharing and promoting their content and ideas to our customers.

Our business is centred around enjoying the Outdoors and we believe that much more needs to be done to protect our Planet and the environment. Our membership to 1% for the Planet cements our commitment to environmental giving and supports our belief that as a business, Latitude can have a positive impact on society and be part of the solution to climate change.

The environment in which we live is balanced on a knife edge, there is a scientific consensus that we are now in a climate emergency. We can not carry on business as usual, everyone - individuals, businesses and governments must take action to urgently reduce their carbon emissions to begin to mitigate the impact climate change will have on our Planet and the millions of people that will suffer as a result of climate change.

We believe that businesses can be a driver for that change, with the ability to act faster than governments, innovate and have an impact that can cross borders.

One of the reasons Latitude was founded was due to the belief that businesses play a critical role in society and that they should have a greater purpose than just profit. Businesses are a great way of connecting people - suppliers, customers, employees and governments. They create an eco-system of communities, are an integral part of society and can be used as a vehicle for positive change.

We are excited to join the 1% for the Planet community and grow with it in 2020!

3 percent of philanthropy goes towards the environment

About 1% for the Planet

1% for the Planet is a global organization that connects dollars and doers to accelerate smart environmental giving. Through their business and individual memberships, 1% for the Planet inspires people to support environmental organizations through annual membership and everyday actions. They advise on giving strategies, they certify donations and they amplify the impact of the network.

Started in 2002 by Yvon Chouinard, founder of Patagonia, and Craig Mathews, founder of Blue Ribbon Flies, their members have given more than $225 million to environmental non profits to date. Today, 1% for the Planet is a network of more than 2,000 member businesses, an expanding community of individual members, and thousands of non profit partners in more than 60 countries.

"Currently, only 3% of total philanthropy goes to the environment and, only 5% of that comes from businesses. The planet needs bigger support than this, and our growing network of member businesses is doing its valuable part to increase giving and support on the ground outcomes. We're excited to welcome Latitude to our global movement of over 2,000 businesses," says Kate Williams, CEO of 1% for the Planet.
